Who would’ve thought that one of the answers to loosing weight actually involves eating more? Well, apparently eating small frequent meals instead of three large meals can do the trick. People who want to get involved in this system can eat the same amount of food but in smaller portions scattered throughout the day.
Metabolism is the process where your body converts the food you eat to energy. Some people are born with a very fast rate of metabolism making them naturally thin bordering close to being underweight; for most people however it is the opposite. Normally, people who are less active have slower metabolic rates, and as people get older metabolism also gets slower. Dividing your meals to smaller portions and scattering them throughout the day ensures that you thoroughly digest your food and that your body can metabolize faster. If you eat a heavy meal, it would take your body 4-5 hours to completely finish turning your body to energy at which point you would already be eating another heavy meal. This means calories and fat will not be used and will just be stored for use till the next day. Small frequent meals make the body convert food to energy and use that energy, before the next meal. It is suggested to eat small meals every 2 hours. As long as the meal does not go bigger than a sandwich then you are good to go. For first time users of the program hunger may come faster than two hours, if this happens you must be ready to eat your next meal. This system is followed until the body can adjust fully to the change of pace. It is advised that people who use the program be vigilant and never allow themselves to go hungry and wait for the body to adjust on its own time and pace.
It is advised that carbohydrate intake should be ceased from 6:00pm onwards since it is assumed that your body will be at rest for the rest of the night and cannot expend energy. On the flipside, a good serving of carbohydrates is needed during the mornings (6:00am onwards) to supply the body’s energy requirements. It is also suggested to eat food high in protein and of course less on fats when using the program.
